NOTES:

  1. % Direct Certification (% Dir Cert) is the percentage of students who receive SNAP, TANF, or who are unaccompanied, migrant, homeless or in foster care. In many school districts, these students are classified as “At-Risk”. A school’s percentage of directly certified students determines their eligibility for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a federal program through which high poverty schools are able to offer free meals to all students. On DESE CEP spreadsheets this number shows up as Identified Student Percentage (ISP).
  2. See Finding a replacement for FRL to measure poverty in KC schools on Set the Schools Free for more information on the Community Eligibility Provision and its impact on FRL data within KCPS boundaries.
  3. Because FRL data is not collected for CEP schools, data for participating CEP schools is noted as “n/a” (not applicable).
  4. Building-level Direct Certification/ISP data is not available for schools marked * ; district-level data is shown for both campuses.
  5. You can find CEP eligibility data from 2014-15 to present on the DESE website under Food and Nutrition Services/Community Eligibility Provision.
